Birding Iceland with a private bird guide
Bird watching tours and/or special bird-photo tours are the special interest of Hávar, your guide in Iceland. Hávar has been an avid birder for a number of years, both in Iceland and abroad, and conducted birding tours in Iceland for a long while.
Iceland hosts a total number of 78 nesting species, which may not seem like a lot, but they make it up in the vast number of individuals of each species. Added to that are a great number of birds that have their nesting grounds in Greenland and northeastern Canada and make stopovers in Iceland spring and autumn.
Waterbirds, such as ducks, geese, swans, loons and grebes are in their tens of thousands, seabirds are in their millions, with the North Atlantic Puffin making up the largest number, several species of waders and passerine birds, as well as a good number of seagulls of different species.
This tour does not follow a template, in the booking questions you can specify which birds fascinate you if you have any preferences. If not Hávar will take you along on a journey photographing some of his favorite birds and tell you about their behaviors.
