Snaefellsnes the magical peninsula (1 day)

This is a one day tour around the remarkable Snaefellsnes Peninsula.

As a one day tour from Reykjavik we visit all the highlights, including the tranquil fishing village of Arnarstapi, the historical fishing station of Djúpalónsandur, the magnificent rocks of Lóndrangar, viewing the powerful icecapped volcano of Snaefellsjokull, and drive through the thriving fishing towns of Grundarfjordur and Olafsvik.

The roundtrip ends with a gourmet dinner at a fine restaurant in the Town of Stykkisholmur.

Pickup at 08:00am at your hotel in the Reykjavik area.

The first leg takes us to the idyllic fishing-village of Arnarstapi where we walk along the coastal cliffs exploring basalt columns and blow holes created by the powerful surf.

Next we visit the lavacave Vatnshellir. The cave itself is an 8000 year old lava tube created by volcanic eruption from a nearby crater. Under the guidance of specially trained guides you will tread in the footsteps of Jule Werne's heroes of The Journey to the Centre of the Earth who started their journey exactly here. Our lunchstop is at the tranquil village of Hellnar, where many visitors claim that the mysterious power of the nearby Volcano Snaefellsjokull can be felt.

We then drive trough the thriving fishing villages of Grundarfjordur and Olafsvik with selected sights and magnificent photographic opportunities. Our roundtrip ends with a luxurious dinner at fine local restaurant in the historical town of Stykkisholmur.

We arrive in Reykjavík at 22:00 after a great day
