The Wonderful South Coast: Waterfalls and Glacier
The South Coast is one of the most popular day tour routes out of Reykjavik From Reykjavik to The waterfall Seljalandsfoss which offers the possibility to walk behind the waterfall, and a few hundred meters away is the hidden waterfall Gljúfrabúi. The waterfall Skógarfoss is the next stop and from there it is possible to do a 30-45 minute hike into the canyon Kvernugil where the waterfall Kvernufoss is a worthy sight. The glacial outlet Sólheimajökull is a spectacular spot where the glacial ice flows magnificently from the main glacier Mýrdalsjökull. The outcrop Dyrholaey is a fascinating place to visit, with a large puffin colony in the summer and a magnificent view in clear weather. Reynisfjara The Black Beach with its fantastic basalt columns, that the waves of the North Atlantic have exposed, is our next destination and finally the seacliffs of the rocky outcrop Dyrhólaey will be our last stop before heading back.
