Thorsmork the Valley of the Gods
Þórsmörk is one of the locals most popular highland destination.
A small valley hidden in the lower highlands on the south side of Iceland. The valley is grown on both sides with birch trees while the glacial river Krossá dominates the valley floor.
The route runs right under the volcano Eyjafjallajökull which erupted in 2010 with severe interruptions to air traffic on both sides of the Atlantic. Two great stops are at the glacier outlet Gígjökull and the magnificent canyon Stakkholtsgjá.
This is an opportunity to experience some off-road driving on rough tracks and fording rivers while you take in the magnificent landscape. There are multiple options for hikes on this tour, short or long, depending on your preference.
